Rocking chairs photo drawings

Do you want to present an original gift that will be remembered for a lifetime? In our time, rocking chairs have evolved from an old-fashioned “grandfather” interior item into a modern and comfortable type of furniture for relaxing. There are many models of various designs and types of construction, from classic armchairs to bent skids to transformers. We have prepared a review in which we will tell you how to choose a comfortable chair with a swing function as a gift to your friends and relatives at a very affordable price.

Rocking chair - a unique piece of furniture

  • Comfortable rest plus relaxation effect. Thanks to the design features, the chair allows you to completely relax the muscles of the body, especially the neck and back, and the pumping effect soothes the psyche, relieves stress and eliminates the symptoms of insomnia.
  • Universality. It can be used at home, in the country, in the garden, even in the office.
  • It has no age restrictions. All modern models are absolutely safe.

Which rocking chair is better to choose

Classic rocking chair - a chair with a high back, the legs of which are mounted on a pair of curved runners. For safety of swinging on runners special limiters are installed. In front of the runners there is a folding footrest, so that the legs do not rest against the floor when swinging. Some models are equipped with removable side panels and look like ordinary chairs in the interior.

  • Simple and reliable design. The swing rate is set by you.
  • The best option for any hard coatings. High-pile carpets and rugs will leave marks.

The classic design allows the muscles to fully relax, even smooth swaying creates a “soothing” effect, as in a cradle. It calms the nervous system and trains the vestibular apparatus.

The most common type of rocking chair is a classic, and there are many models from expensive designer ones made of solid wood to lightweight garden chairs made of wicker rattan or plastic.

Glider Chair - a modern view of armchairs with a swing effect, in which a seat with a back with a pendulum mechanism is mounted on a stable platform. This provides a rocking effect when the base is stationary. The backrest is adjustable from fully horizontal to strictly vertical and is fixed in any position. There are several types of gliders:

  • Standard glider chair with extendable footrest.
  • Recliner - using the built-in mechanism, the chair is transformed into a comfortable rocking chair.
  • Massage. It performs several types of massage, top models are equipped with aromatherapy function.

Gliders can be equipped with a special autonomous swinging mechanism with electronic or touch control. In such a chair, it’s very convenient for mom to rock the baby.

There are special models of gliders, which in appearance do not differ at all from expensive office chairs.

Spring Rocking Chair - the seat is mounted on a spring mechanism, which is located in a large, usually round, wide base. The seat can be regular or round. Wiggle, as in the classic models, is inertial.

  • Simple, reliable and safe design. It withstands increased load.
  • The original appearance.

The maximum level of security of this chair makes it an ideal option for a child’s room.

Rocking chair selection criteria

Before buying, be sure to sit in a chair and check it in action, preferably in the most extreme modes. This will help evaluate both the comfort and safety of the selected model.

If you buy a chair as a gift - ask him to test it for any person with similar dimensions.

  • The seat and back should be sufficiently elastic.
  • The height of the back and armrests should correspond to growth, otherwise you will not be able to completely relax.
  • The chair should be stable, even with a strong swing.
  • The chair must withstand the load: the weight of the swinging person plus 10-15 kg. The maximum load is indicated in the documentation.
  • There should be no extraneous sounds when swinging: creaks, cod.
  • Armchairs made of solid wood should not have cracks, chips, protruding knots. In wickerwork - tears and knots in weaving.
  • Armchair for an open area (cottage, porch, balcony), should be made of waterproof materials.

Rocking chair - an unusual, exclusive gift for any occasion

A beautiful designer chair, presented for a family anniversary or for a special occasion, can become a real family heirloom, passed down from generation to generation, fouling with stories and legends.

Stylish office chair-glider will give unforgettable moments of comfort and relaxation even to the most strict boss.

And your child will enjoy frolic and jump in a soft spring chair.

Simple rocking chair

The easiest way to make a chair that will be able to swing is to simply make two sidewalls of plywood and connect them with the lower rungs and the seat. At the same time, the seat strips themselves will also play the role of fastening elements, so the chair will be not only comfortable, but also reliable.

To begin with, it is worth cutting two sidewalls, making them best of all from thick plywood, since they are the basis of the whole structure. Plywood should be 15-20 mm thick so that the screws hold well in it. And the best thing is to be able to drill holes for the screws so that they do not disperse the plywood layer.

When marking, you may have a problem with painting the lower runners. But it is solved as simple as possible, by the old and proven grandfather method, which does not require special knowledge or accurate calculations.

According to the drawing, mark on the plywood sheet two points of the upper level of the curved lower surface. After that, take a flexible bar 10 centimeters longer than the distance between the points, and attach its edges to the marked points. The bend that turned out, just mark with a pencil. Thus, the bottom side, which will allow you to swing, is ready and it will be marked out beautifully and evenly.

The upper faces and bends are not so critical, they are mostly responsible only for the appearance. But do not make them too sharp so that it is comfortable to sit on the chair. Prefer smooth lines.

Next, you need to make two lower drawers, their length depends on how wide you are going to make a chair, because if you increase the length and add an average stand, you can even make a bench a rocking chair for a summer residence or a loggia.

The longest step, both in terms of assembly, and in terms of manufacturing will be the seat trims. You can independently adjust their width, but on the bends, the trims should be as thin as possible so that it is as smooth as possible. The boards of the back, seat and front side can, in principle, be wide, but within reasonable limits so as not to spoil the appearance of the product. You can make slats simply by unfolding a sheet of plywood on a circular using a direct bailak or mark it and cut it with a jigsaw if you do not have a circular.

Before assembly, it is advisable to polish all the faces, especially the ends of the slices, so that the entire product looks beautiful and neat. The parts are fastened together using self-tapping screws. So that the screws do not disperse the sidewalls, it is advisable to drill mounting auxiliary holes before twisting them. This will make the assembly process longer, but the product will look better.

As mentioned above, the hats of self-tapping screws can be covered with a simple putty on wood to hide them. After drying, the putty is simply sanded. When everything is ready, you can cover the rocking chair with a stain, if you want to change its color and varnish it after drying to protect it from weathering.

Material selection

For the manufacture of rocking chairs use willow, reed, bamboo andother wood species. When choosing a material, be guided by your own preferences, the interior style of the room in which it will be located, and financial capabilities.

If aIf you want to relax in a rocking chair in the open air, a variety of wicker patterns will suit you. Such material withstands the influence of precipitation for a long time. But it is advisable, of course, not to test them for strength, because from moisture the vine becomes brittle over time, and dries out from direct sunlight.

Wicker items are made in the old fashion, manually, so the product has a rather high cost.

Rocking chairs made from Indonesian rattan are popular. These are environmentally friendly, comfortable and very elegant products that have excellent quality and high strength. They withstand different loads and have excellent cushioning.

The wrought-iron armchair will look elegant in a country house. It will decorate a veranda or a gazebo. For such a chair, soft pillows are a must. The use of metal is possible in the manufacture of the frame, and the back and seat can be made of another material, more comfortable for sitting. Sometimes you can see interesting designs in which rattan and other natural materials are combined with metal parts. Wood or plywood is also suitable for the frame. Such options are more budgetary, but less durable.

If you decide to put a rocking chair in the house, select the model for the manufacture of which natural wood was used. Cherry or cedar wood is suitable for a large, well-lit room. An oak or maple model is a great choice for a chair whose place is near the fireplace. For greater comfort, do not forget to buy a soft pillow on his seat.

Selection in appearance is one of the main criteria in choosing, but do not forget about checking elasticity andrigidity of construction.

Do not hesitate to try on a chair “for yourself” right in the store’s premises, sit down, sway, evaluate your feelings and degree of convenience. The chair should be elastic, moderately rigid, otherwise there will be no free swinging. Check if your hands are comfortable lying on the armrests, if their width and height suit you. In a high-quality chair, the whole body (back, arms, legs, neck) relaxes, and you enjoy being in it.

It is very convenient if the chair is made with a footrest, which allows you to relax in this part of the body.

Perform a thorough inspection and make sure that all parts of the chair are in one piece. In the wicker version, there should be no gaps in the weave. See if there are any joints. Ideally, you should not see them, only one visible junction is permissible. Listen if the product makes a creak when rocking. If it comes from the varnish coating - this is normal, but if from parts of the chair - this is most likely a defect.

Pattern making and drawing transfer

  1. To make a pattern, you need to mark a sheet of paper into identical cells of 10x10 mm in size, and then redraw the drawing, prepared taking into account all the nuances.
  2. After this, it is necessary to draw on the plywood the cells enlarged to the required size and transfer the images of the parts, saving space on the sheet of material.

Sawing plywood into parts

  1. In accordance with the drawing, use a jigsaw or grinder to saw a sheet of plywood 15 mm thick into parts: side elements, seat supports, racks. You also need to prepare four slats (47x4.5 cm, 54x4.5 cm, 48.5x4.5 cm and 47x4.5 cm), which will be the cross members of the rocking chair design.
  2. From a plywood sheet 10 mm thick, cut 18 slats for the back and 16 for the seat. Their size is 54x3 cm and 50x3 cm. Material 4 mm thick should be used for the manufacture of parts for the back and seat.
  3. For the steps of the rocking chair, you will need to take a wooden beam and use an electric drill to drill holes for screws in it.
  4. After all the parts are ready, they will need to be cleaned with sandpaper. It is especially recommended to handle the backrest, seat and armrests.

Assembly assembly

The trims corresponding to the details of the seat and back of the rocking chair are glued with PVA glue

  1. First, it is supposed to assemble the back and seat from thin strips 10 mm thick. These strips must be glued to the back and seat parts cut from 4 mm plywood. This design will allow you to form a curved shape. It is better to connect details with waterproof PVA glue for joiner's works.
  2. Further to the base of the back and seat are mounted cross members, and after that - sidewalls and footboard. When connecting parts with screws, metal washers must be used.
  3. After assembling all the parts, the back and seat can be covered with padding polyester and upholstered with fabric, leatherette or leather. To do this, you must:
  • according to the size of the rocking chair to make a pattern,
  • apply a thin layer of PVA glue to the seat and back,
  • attach a burlap layer on top (due to its rough surface, the filler will not go astray),
  • put a synthetic winterizer on the seat and back,
  • to tighten with fabric a back and a seat with a filler,
  • fasten the material with a furniture stapler.

Having made a homemade rocking chair, you can significantly save and get a convenient and high-quality item. Furniture made in compliance with all requirements will please you with its convenience for many years.

Material and its characteristics

For the manufacture of rocking chairs from solid wood, conifers are preferably selected. It can be pine, spruce, alder or larch. These rocks are notable for their low mass and low density. Home-made structures with significant mass will be inconvenient to move. High density of the material will create difficulties in work.

Coniferous trees have a light gray hue structure. Easy to process. A significant drawback of such wood is that with an increase in the level of humidity, it increases in size. Despite this, conifers are a budget option, widely distributed in the distribution network and have a low cost.

Making a chair is possible from more expensive varieties of wood. It can be oak, ash or beech. These varieties of wood have almost no pores, resulting in a high level of strength. Ready-made designs are reliable and durable, but have a high cost. Tree species are light or light yellow in color.

Photo: carved oak rocking chair

For the manufacture of a chair that swings, use high-quality wooden billets of the first grade. The moisture content of these blanks at the beginning of work should not exceed 10%. If this indicator is higher, then wood is not recommended. It is better to let it dry, since a structure made of wet wood will subsequently dry and undergo deformation. The consequence will be its plain appearance or complete destruction.

How to check the quality of fittings?

Rocking chairs often consist of many different little things: screws, bolts, fabric on the armrests, decorative buttons, stitches. All of this hardware must be carefully checked. Everything should be in place, firmly attached (glued or sewn). It is better to varnish the wooden options again - the product will last longer.

We check the quality of finishing materials

If you have chosen your favorite chair, check the fabric, which can be trimmed with a back and handles. The seams should be even, the material should not be bristled or laid, unless this is provided for by the model. Carefully review the places where the lower parts of the chair touch the floor - only perfectly polished and smooth ones will suit you. Paint or varnish (if used for manufacturing) should have a smooth layer and not emit a very sharp or unpleasant odor.

And yet, which option to dwell on?

The most comfortable seats are with soft seats and wooden legs, but they are very expensiveand are carried out mainly on order. Wooden chairs, which are many in any furniture store, will be no worse than the first option, if you apply a little trick. When buying a product, immediately pick up a soft mattress for it of the appropriate size. They can be removed and put on if necessary, as well as washed. Upholstered metal rocking chairs are more suitable for office space. This is the most affordable option, especially many models of production in China, which, however, do not differ in impeccable quality.

Separately about office rocking chairs

Sometimes work chairs are equipped with a rocking function. To connect it does not need to get up. The classic "chiefs" models are made of wood and leather. More often use dark colors. There are so-called "designer" rocking chairs, which are often offered for office workers. They are lighter and have simple designs.

Rocking chairs for children

Drop the stereotypes that rocking chairs are designed to relax grandparents. Children are also very fond of swinging in them. Many companies produce special children's models, and in modern homes they can often be seen. Typically, the chair takes its place in the children's corner among toys, poufs and other items convenient for the child.

Rocking chairs for children are presented by manufacturers in various models. What they just are not equipped with: musical effects, vibrating seats and many other functions.

Children's rocking chair for the smallest- more game furniture, rather than an ordinary chair, so it can andmark the shape of, say, some representative of the animal world. On some, you can even arrange races. Older children can use the adult model.

Do not lose sight of a single trifle when buying a rocking chair. Do not forget to also preliminarily read reviews on models in specialized forums. We wish you a happy shopping and a pleasant stay!

Types of rocking chairs and materials for the manufacture

Rocking chairs can vary in design and material, but they are all united by common advantages:

  • beneficial effects on the human muscle and nervous system,
  • creating conditions for a comfortable stay,
  • the ability to use indoors and outdoors,
  • use for different age categories,
  • reliability and safety.

A home rocking chair is a great help for a nursing mother. Babies quickly fall asleep under easy motion sickness, and mom can relax and rest.

By the way, the opinion that a rocking chair takes up more space than usual is wrong. Modern rocking chairs are compact in terms of occupied space and do not surpass conventional furniture in anything. Rocking chairs are universal, but if you are thinking about a garden chair, it is better to choose it taking into account the specifics of the installation. Soft seats must be removable so that they can be removed during the rain. Chair cover should be selected from a material resistant to sunlight and atmospheric precipitation.

As the basis for the frame use wood, plywood, metal or rattan. Exquisite models with bent elements are made from wood. Such products require the protection of wood from moisture and insects. Budget options for rocking are made of thick plywood. It is better not to leave such chairs on the street, as plywood is afraid of moisture. The best base for garden tools is metal. Masters can even offer you forged chairs, but they are very heavy.

Wicker chairs are a classic of the genre. They are made of rattan, willow, bamboo and cane. Light and comfortable, they are suitable for both home and garden

The seats and backs of such chairs are made soft or hard. It is convenient if the soft mattress is easily removable. They can be washed or cleaned during bad weather. Filling the pillows can be made of foam rubber, synthetic winterizer, latex, coconut fiber or horse hair. Upholstery is selected from practical materials. You can meet the design of tapestry or jacquard, cloth, flock.

Types of Rocking

Conform with your own needs already at the stage of selecting a prototype. Rocking chairs are known for several types, focused on users with different habits and needs. The main types of rocking chairs are shown in the photo. The first to appear in everyday life were rocking horses on simple radius runners (arcs, rocker arms, skis). They are in use to this day, both in modern and classic appearance, poses. 1 and 2. Their main advantage is constructive and technological simplicity.

The main types of rocking chairs

Radius skids provide smoothness and softness of swaying only on relatively small swaying, and when strong they do not guarantee against capsizing. Therefore, rocking “at radii” is performed with a low landing, which provides a large excess of the center of the circumference (CH) over the common center of gravity (CT), for more details on the kinematics of rocking, see below. If a seat of normal height is required, then the runners are equipped with chippers, pos. 3. The shocks of the bumpers on the floor are noticeably given in the “fifth point”, and in any case you have to stiffen out of the rocking chair on the radius runners.

Tipping is excluded in rocking chairs on runners of variable curvature, pos. 4. All of them are comfortable enough for riders of different physiques. They themselves gently planted a rider and a forward rider on a rocking chair of the nirvana type on skids of variable curvature, pos. 5 and 6. It is also possible to change the rate of progression in the law of variation of the generatrix radius (also see about kinematics), to design for any, to the extent possible, landing height.

Rocking nirvana on ellipse skids, pos. 7, provide easy swaying, truly blissful, but do not prevent tipping over during strong swing, therefore they are equipped with chippers, the front one is often combined with the footboard. The garden rocking chairs-loungers with an awning on ellipses, pos. 8.

Rocking chair on springs

Rocking nirvana on springs, see fig. on the left, swing as softly as on ellipses, because The mechanical characteristic of the springs is progressive. But to make a spring chair with your own hands is difficult: you need either high-quality boards of special types of wood (teak, boxwood, cornel) or rubberized so as not to scratch the floor, a strip of spring steel. In addition, dirt is accumulated between the spring and the runner and it is possible to pinch your finger very painfully in it. For the last reasons, now spring seats are on sale a rarity.

3 in 1 rocking chair

Finally, there are also 3-in-1 multi-functional rockers on runners with smooth kinks, see fig. on right. With a direct landing, this is an ordinary chair, leaning back, you can put it into rocking mode at radii, and leaning back even more - turn it into a sunbed. But the dimensions of the 3-in-1 rocking chair are too big for apartments below the business class, and transitions from mode to mode are accompanied by rather sensitive shocks. In unsuccessful models, you have to either get up at all, or twitch, wriggle and twitch, like a puppet on strings. Therefore, 3-in-1 rocking chairs are a piece of furniture for an amateur.

Materials

The process of making a chair can be quite simple if you select the appropriate method and material. You can create a work of art from improvised materials, and from the old clamshell. Some craftsmen suggest creating a comfortable seat from a chest or from a metal hoop.

To create a classic chair, as a rule, use more durable materials to make a reliable frame. It can be made from timber, planks, plywood, willow, vine, logs, chipboard, chipboard, metal and from bars.

A soft frameless product does not require large time and financial costs. It can easily be made from fabric or foam. It will look no worse than the purchased one, but will bring much greater pride in the work done.

Step 2

We take an electric jigsaw and carefully cut out the elements of the future rocking chair made of solid wood. Sidewalls, two racks, supporting arrays and planks are sawn from the most dense fragment. Now you need to create a transverse element and a bar, the dimensions of which are 50 by 40 cm. To create seventeen levels and fifteen transverse elements, we need a sheet 1 cm thick.

How to make lining for a chair

Now that you know how to make a rocking chair with your own hands, let's proceed to the overlays. Turn the product upside down and heat up the bar prepared in advance with a construction hairdryer. We put the finished swinging bar on a runner and securely wind it along the entire length with a cotton cloth. Be careful not to get burned on hot chipboard. After the wooden rocking chair cools down, remove the fabric and glue the lining with PVA glue. The ends are fixed with small nails. We recommend placing small boards, pieces of plywood or washers under the nail caps. We remove this temporary fixture after the chair from the bar is completely dry from glue. We drill blind holes for fasteners and fix the ends

Please note that the pads for the chair that swings, are attached with metal hardware only at the ends. This will avoid scratching the floor when erasing the linings.

Do-it-yourself rocking chairs are ready.

The device of rocking chairs, varieties and what materials can be used

A traditional rocking chair is quite simple. It consists of a seat, back, legs and “skis”. On the modern market, the design is represented by several types: with runners (arcs, rockers, "skis", elliptical), pendulum, spring and suspension. However, regardless of the type of chair, they all work on the principle of a pendulum. The rolling starts due to the forced transfer of the center of gravity from one point to another. Then everything happens by inertia, which fades over time, and therefore you need to swing the chair again.

The device of a classic rocking chair with dimensions

Classic rocking chairs are the most common option, the manufacture of which does not require much experience in assembling furniture. Due to the fact that the runners are curved under a small radius, a smooth swing is ensured, but with the application of considerable effort, the entire structure can overturn.

Classic design

Pendulum or glider designs. The base of the chair is fixed, and the seat is swinging due to the hinge system. A great solution for nursing mothers, because this type of design helps to relax and at the same time rocking the baby.

Chair with glider rolling system

3 in 1. Multifunctional models, which look like an ordinary chair, when folding the skids sitting on the back, they are transferred to the rolling mode, and with even greater pressure, the structure is transformed into a sunbed.

Spring loaded. Designs look like a chair, and the rolling is due to the springs hidden under the seat.

Spring wicker chair

Traditionally, rocking chairs were made of wood or vines. Over time, designers and furniture manufacturers expanded the list of materials. Now, in addition to traditional materials, plywood, metal and plastic are used. The seat and back of the seats are often equipped with a soft pillow: stationary or removable. Selection of material should be done taking into account the operating conditions of the product.

History of creation

Rocking chair is a type of furniture for relaxation, characterized by a non-standard design of the base. Instead of the classic legs, it has a special form of skids that allow you to swing in a sitting position, back and forth. In some cases, a special mechanism on the rollers or hinges is responsible for the pendulum vibrations.

The inventor of the rocking chair is reliably unknown. According to some legends, Benjamin Franklin, one of the founding fathers of the United States, had a hand in its creation. However, there is historical evidence that armchairs of this design were used until the 18th century. In English, the definition of rocking-chair appeared in 1766, but here everything is not so simple.

This piece of furniture got its modern, familiar look thanks to the German carpenter Michael Tonet, who in the 19th century began to use the techniques he developed for manufacturing Viennese chairs in the manufacture of rocking-chairs. The models he created were sold under the Thonet brand, made from bent beech and quickly gained popularity among the creative intelligentsia and aristocracy.

In the second half of the 20th century, modernist designers drew attention to a rocking chair. They replaced the classic design with runners with support rings, a silhouette similar to the outline of an egg

Futuristic models were developed with plastic curved seats, on massive wooden skis. There were solid plastic models, metal with leather seats. Today, the diversity of the model range is limited only by the imagination of designers of rocking chairs.

What to look for when choosing

Choosing these products, it is worth considering important qualities:

material - if a rocking chair is purchased for adults, be sure to pay attention to strength. Its body must be metal or wooden,
seat - the seat of the rocking chair should be comfortable, comfortable,
design - the appearance of this furniture should have an unusual design that will fit into any style of interior

If you need a children's model, then it should not have catchy drawings. Any bright picture, a horror story in a child can cause strong fear,
sizes - the size of the product should correspond to the height and weight of an adult or child under the age of one year or up to 7 years.

In the selection you can see photos on which you can see the variety of designs, design, as well as detailed characteristics of these models.

Wireframe models

The frame of the seats can be made of the following types of materials:

  • Natural wood,
  • All types of particle or wood chipboards in small fractions. Polished or varnished boards are also used,
  • Furniture natural plywood,
  • Metals
  • Plastics.

Frameless

The main variety of frameless chairs can safely be called bags (pillows). By the principle of the device, they resemble a large soft mattress. All the difference will be in the given form (ball, drop, stump) and filler. The most common filler is foam-molded balls. The smaller it is, the softer it will sit. To increase the comfort of landing, it is often mixed with aero or syntepuh. These fibrous, fluffy fillers are lightweight, lightweight and fast creasing. In general, immediately be prepared for the fact that the filler will have to be sprinkled regularly. And it is hygroscopic. Therefore, damp places or rooms with high humidity should be avoided. You can dry the filler, but this activity is not pleasant.

The device of the bag chair is very simple:

  • Ball zipper pouch for filling with balls (inner),
  • Filler,
  • Cover, which is the "face" of the chair (external). Also made with a zipper.

Another variety of frameless furniture can be called inflatable chairs. Their distinguishing features include:

  • The main material for the manufacture of polyvinyl chloride (vinyl). It is quite beautiful, durable, resistant to stretching. But, afraid of low temperatures and mechanical damage. Inflatable furniture should be kept warm. For outdoor use, it’s best to purchase reinforced bottom variations,
  • Rich color palette. Vinyl is perfectly painted, does not fade, it can be of any degree of transparency. Remarkably covered with flocking (nylon pile),
  • Do not use car pumps for inflation. This will end with a seam break. Purchase a special one if the chair is not equipped with an integrated pump,
  • The abundance of forms. Inflatable chairs fully imitate frame with armrests, head restraints and other elements,
  • Inflatable transformers can be used for sleeping. Of course they will not replace the bed, but for a while they are very comfortable.

Standard models

The most common type of seats can be called standard. Regardless of their shape, they are easily recognizable by staging. Supports can be straight or curved (cabriole), but are present necessarily. As decorative and functional elements that affect comfort, lateral support (wings), roller armrests, and related poufs can be used.

These seats are characterized by soft fillers, comfort and are intended for rest or leisure.

Folding bed chairs

The main purpose of the chairs of transformers is to help in equipping with all the necessary rooms with small dimensions. Such chairs can be laid out in a bed, sunbed, equipped with their own table, which can serve as the head of the bed.

Very convenient to use, take up little space. But, abuse sleep on transformers is not worth it. Nevertheless, they are not able to replace a full bed. But in the case of guests arriving, they have no price. They are also great for children's rooms or small living rooms. They can be used in the country. Value for money is very reasonable.

Recliners

The word recliner has long been synonymous with comfort and high cost. These are chic armchairs, which, in addition to a large number of settings of all parameters, allow them to be laid out to the full horizontal with the extension of a special footboard.

There can be several types of mechanisms:

  • Mechanical. To bring it into action, you have to quite press the back. This is most conveniently done by leaning back with your whole body. The transformation process is rather slow. Manual acceleration of the footboard ejection is envisaged. You can also remove it with your hands. Not the most convenient, but the cheapest option,
  • Electric. Additional equipment with motors and an electric drive will help get rid of the need to do something yourself. Just press the button and wait for the chair to transform. In electrical versions, the process is much faster. Management can be touch, button or remote.

Rocking

The classification of armchairs will undoubtedly be incomplete without loved ones by many rocking chairs. They can be divided into:

  • On the runners. This is a classic option. At the base are 2 narrow skis, slightly bent up on both edges. Quite noisy, require frequent repulsions, since the amplitude of the swing quickly dies out. Only suitable for hard floors,
  • Vienna chair. Runners with armrests are connected in a rounded closed loop,
  • Pendulum mechanism. Gliders are suitable for installation on carpets or soft flooring. The base remains motionless. Only the seat sways. Often equipped with an accompanying ottoman under the legs with the same swing mechanism,
  • Spring loaded. Papasan rockers are standardly made from rattan. Equipped with a wide ring-shaped base and a hollow twisted leg. A powerful spring is mounted inside it, which is responsible for swinging. A round reclining seat completes the picture.

Outboard

Hanging chairs are distinguished by a variety of types:

In addition, they all differ not only in appearance, but also in the type of suspension:

  • Ceiling
  • Ceiling with additional fastening to walls or floors,
  • Beam,
  • Rack.

Advantages and disadvantages

The modern rocking chair is comfortable furniture that is designed for daily use. In addition, these objects have a beneficial effect on the condition of the entire musculoskeletal system, while in it all parts of the body just relax, because all the muscles are relaxed, the load is evenly distributed over the whole body.

The best rocking chair has many positive qualities:

  • The rocking chair for children and adults has a streamlined design, thanks to which the spine relaxes and rests. As a result of this, pain, increased tension are relieved,
  • the swing mechanism for the chair has a smooth wiggle. It tidies up muscle tone, normalizes the nervous system, improves the condition of the musculoskeletal system,
  • the seat has a flat surface, there are no protrusions, deformations on it, so it will always be comfortable to sit and relax on it,
  • the use of a pillow allows you to put it on a seat or under your head to give additional comfort, softness,
